Comments from the Danish Minister for Climate Dan Jørgensen regarding the European Comission's Green Deal.

“This is the EU not just talking the talk, but walking the walk. It is an ambitious proposal on how to achieve EU’s 2030 climate target and it will double the EU's climate efforts over the next ten years. In the upcoming negotiations, I will push for even higher ambitions while ensuring that the package is not watered down by those who have concerns about the green transition.”

“The global significance of this package cannot be overestimated. Once again, the EU leads by example. We show that the EU not only sets ambitious climate targets, but also delivers on them with action while leaving no one behind. Now we want to see big emitters like US, China, India and Brazil to ramp up with a similar level of ambition and action ahead of COP26”.

"Denmark has pushed for several of the green fingerprints in the package, working with other progressive countries to raise our climate ambitions. For instance by setting a phase-out date for the sale of new petrol and diesel cars and vans in the EU. And by increasing the targets for renewable energy and energy efficiency, which has always been key priorities for Denmark.”
