The Copenhagen Climate Ministerial brings together ministers and leaders from around the world and will take place on May 7-8.

Denmark will host climate ministers from around the world as they meet in Copenhagen to set the course for negotiations at COP30 in Brazil.

This year’s Ministerial will bring together approximately 40 leaders and ministers to discuss the key issues related to the implementation of the outcomes of COP29 and engage in critical deliberations on key expectations for COP30 in Belém. This presents a decisive moment to step up efforts to enhance ambition and accelerate the implementation of climate action, including through our national climate plans.

Danish minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard, will chair the meeting alongside the COP30 President-Designate, Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago from Brazil, and outgoing COP29 President, Mukhtar Babayev from Azerbaijan.

COP30 President-Designate, Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago from Brazil says:

"The Copenhagen Climate Ministerial has become an extremely relevant forum to advance the climate agenda and reaffirm the importance of dialogue and collaboration in the fight against climate change. This sense of partnership will be crucial to achieve successful outcomes at COP30. As I have stated in my first letter to the international community, we must unite in a "mutirão" to explore all possible paths to overcome the many challenges we know we have to face.”

COP29 President, Mukhtar Babayev says:

“The multilateral climate system has already delivered concrete benefits and we need to continue the spirit of courage and solidarity that we showed at COP29 in Baku. To preserve the process, each country now needs to stand up and make sure that we deliver our past promises and move towards implementation. In Copenhagen we must send a strong signal of our steadfast commitment to continue ambitious climate action.”

Danish minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard says:

"Global climate action and unity are more critical now than ever. As some countries regrettably retreat, we must remain steadfast and push ahead to secure a sustainable future. That’s why I’m proud that once again, we are uniting key global players in Copenhagen to advance the climate agenda.”

It is the fourth year in a row that Denmark is hosting the Copenhagen Climate Ministerial together with the incoming and outgoing COP presidencies.

This year, the Copenhagen Climate Ministerial will take place on May 7-8 in Copenhagen.
