A key actor in the work of digitisation of the public service sector
The Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities is a key actor in digitization of the public sector. The Ministry is for example responsible for the translation of a series of important initiatives under common public digitization strategies, including work in relation to geo-data.
The Digital Strategy 2016-2020 focuses attention on the potential of data and digitization as a motivating force for an efficient and growth-creation supply sector. The creation of digital infrastructure will contribute a more coherent management basis for uniform economic regulation along with efficient and transparent inspection. Moreover, it will support the work of supply companies to streamline and optimize internal working procedures in addition to simplification of administrative rules.
As part of the Digital Strategy 2016-2020, further development of the Danish Register of Underground Cable Owners (LER) will ensure that efficient and automated data sharing supports easier daily operations for private companies, relief of administrative procedures and provides socio-economic gains. The LER facilitates contact between excavators and owners of underground infrastructure, which makes it easier to get information about the position of wires in the ground before excavation work begins. This minimizes damages and any subsequent inconveniences.
Free basic data for societal benefit
Basic data are used across the public sector and are available to everybody free of charge. Examples include basic information about Denmark and Danes such as properties, addresses, roads and areas, water and climate, geography, persons and companies.
A simple and efficient data distribution system supports the best possible use of data. The Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities has developed the , which compiles, streamlines and modernizes the distribution of public basic data. This is to the benefit of authorities, companies and other users that have access to an easy and more stable supply of data.
The Danish cadastre system under the Danish Geodata Agency is a record of all title numbers in Denmark. The Danish cadastre system is used as a recording and administration basis by public authorities, thereby contributing to efficiency and coherency to the administrative system.
